To remove items from your collection, you must make sure they no longer appear in the catalog. To do that, you will create a “Weeding Record Set” that will change their circulation from In to Withdrawn.
Click on “New” and then “Record Sets.”

Select “Weeding” as the Record Set Type.

Select “ShSys Weeding Template (IndyPL Shared System)” as the Weeding Template. Click “OK.”

Enter a Name for your Weeding Record Set. Please use your location abbreviation and date (sample below), then click “Save.”:

Scan items in the Scan Box that you would like to have updated to “Withdrawn.”
- You can add only items that belong to your location
- Items must NOT be “Lost”, “Out”, “In-Transit”, etc. Check items in before adding to the weeding record set if they have a status other than “In”.
Save the Record Set. Upon saving the record set, the circulation status of the items will automatically be set to “Withdrawn.”
You can continue to add additional items to the record set and click save when finished. The newly added items will be set to “Withdrawn.”
Items with the Withdrawn status are not visible in BiblioCommons and they are not requestable. A year after their status is changed to Withdrawn, they are automatically deleted from the catalog. (Note that adding items to your Weeding Record Set will not change the weeded dates on items already in the record set.)
Once you’ve finished the Weeding Record Set, cross out the barcode with a Sharpie and follow any other procedures you may have.
