Polaris allows for a vast array of reports, from transactional detail to totals over time. You can also retrieve “reports” in LEAP that you can use. Some reports you can create for yourself in LEAP and either print from there or download to a spreadsheet. These reports are best for item status reports, such as Damaged, Display, Local Missing, or Withdrawn. There’s little flexiblity about these reports and they don’t include transaction information. You’ll find instructions for Item Status Reports here.
Transaction reports, such as a list of students with overdue and/or lost items can be requested by emailing sharedsystem@indypl.org. We are trying to get those to you quarterly so you have ample opportunity to send notes home about overdue items.
Monthly circulation statistics are available for all schools and libraries on the Circ Dashboard here.
The last kind of report is of Marc records. Only vendors and catalogers have the kind of software that allows them to see the contents of the records. You can request a download of your Marc records when you have a need for them. If you use Follett for book ordering, it’s helpful to have them so you know what books you already own. (It’s only current the day it’s pulled, though!)
Top Circulating Titles Tool

Looking for ideas of books to recommend or purchase? We can help. Our friends in IT developed this a truly fabulous tool we can use to get you a list of the top 10, 25, 50 or 100 titles in your choice of material types at your choice of locations. We can download a spreadsheet of, say, your school’s top 10 to create a poster for your library. Pictured above, you’ll see the first few of the top 25 Teen titles checked out since Jan. 1, 2023 at both IndyPL and Shared System locations. You can click on the hyperlinked titles in the spreadsheet (so thoughtful – thank you, IT friends!) to see if you own a copy, and request a couple to tempt some readers if you don’t.
Let us know your preferred date range, material type, and number of top titles. We should be able to get you the report within 24 hours. Sooner if we’re lucky!
