(Click here to learn more about the check in screen.)
- Click the blue Check In button located at the top left
- We use four options under Check In
- Normal – requires a decision be made for each fine so this option is used only if a patron is standing in front of you ready to pay for something or wondering whether this was the book they lost
- Bulk – any items that need to be resolved (claims returned items are found, etc.) on the patron’s account are reconciled without you having to do anything. The resolution will show on your screen as seen in this real-life example:

- In House is to check in material used in the library but not checked out – records a circulation statistic. This is especially valuable to show the “reference use” in your library.(Since we do not charge fines, there is no reason to set Free Days on the Bulk check out screen)
In house circulation counts can be seen on the item record, Statistics tab
Inventory
- Inventory records the date material was found on the shelf. This is a separate process, usually done section by section. You will coordinate your inventory with us so we can let you know what material did not get checked in when you finish a section.
Inventory check-in mode assigns an inventory date to the item record which can be found on the Statistics tab.

Inventory check-in mode does not check the item in. If you do scan an item that has any status other than “In” it will prompt you to check the item in.
These messages may pop up during In House or Inventory check in. You need to use bulk check-in to deal with these or similar issues.

Items that are currently checked out are not automatically scanned into inventory. Those items must be scanned in Inventory check in when they are returned. Once you start an inventory at your location, it may be easier to scan each item twice, once in bulk check in and again in the inventory check in.
We recommend scanning section by section rather than the entire collection at once. For example, you may start with J FIC. When you finish, we can run reports of anything that does NOT have an inventory date (and in future years, anything that doesn’t have an inventory date within a selected range of dates). We can run reports based on the call number or the collection. We will provide you a list of items that were not inventoried, including information such as last circ activity date, to give you some clues as to whether it may be hiding somewhere or if it’s gone. Once you determine you cannot locate the items, we can put them in a record set and change their status to “local missing” or “withdrawn.”
Although we do our best to respond quickly, if several schools are doing an inventory at the same time, there may be a delay!
