Borrower Account: Claims & Lost

Claims

A claim can be made on an item checked out to a borrower.  There are two options for claims:

  • Claims never checked out
  • Claims returned

Patrons can have ONE claim on their account at a time.  Claims remain on the account until they are checked in.  Claims are purged from the system after one year but we want your patrons to keep looking.  You can tell families that only if you need to.

To make an item claim, go into the Borrower Account, click on the Out/Overdue tab.  Select the item you wish to claim, then click “Make a Claim”

Lost

You can declare an item Lost in the Borrower Account.  Items will automatically age to Lost when they are 42 days overdue, but there may be situations when you need to declare an item lost.

To declare an item lost, go into the Borrower Account, click on the Out/Overdue tab.  Select the item you wish to declare lost, then click “Declare Lost”

A pop-up will appear with an option to pay for the item.

Pay if the borrower wants to pay for the item.  Waive if you are waiving charges.  Charge if you are adding the charge to the borrower account.  It can be paid at a later date from the borrower account.
